The goal of the Oregon Community Oncology Patient Navigation program (COPN) is to develop a trained cohort of allied health professionals who are equipped to provide community oncology patient navigation in Oregon. The training is adapted from the George Washington University Patient Navigation series and tailored to Oregon oncology health care landscape and designed to be culturally and community responsive.

The course consists of 14 asynchronous self-paced modules and three, live skill building sessions facilitated by Community Cancer Control Specialists with the support of other subject matter experts such as patient navigators, caregivers, and providers. The total time commitment is approximately 36 hours total over a 7-week period. Estimated weekly time commitment of 4-5 hours is expected. Completion of all assigned coursework materials and participation in all three live sessions is required to receive full credit. Participants who completed all requirements will receive a certificate of completion from the Knight Cancer Institute.

Please note that COPNs will not provide, nor advise, on patient care such as recommending a medication or procedure.
